Soyeong Park, 17, is a senior in WW-P High School North in New Jersey. In 2009, She debuted with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Charles Dutoit as a Children’s Division winner of the Albert M. Greenfield Competition.
Throughout the next several years, she earned first prizes in various solo competitions, and subsequently performed as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, Region II High School Orchestra, Monmouth Symphony, Old York Symphony, Kennett Symphony, Ambler Symphony, and Sinfonietta NOVA.
In spring of 2014, she was invited to perform a 6-concert series as a featured soloist with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in the Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall as a part of the 2013~2014 Link Up: The Orchestra Sings Program hosted by the Weill Music Institute for elementary school students.
In 2013, she was accepted into the inaugural season of National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America 2013, and consequently took part in NYO-USA’s international tour to Washington D.C., Moscow, St. Petersburg, and London with maestro Valery Gergiev and violinist Joshua Bell. During the orchestra’s stay in the U.S. capitol, she served as first violinist in a performance of the Mendelssohn Octet Finale at the Russian Embassy. The following summer, she was selected as co-concertmaster of NYO-USA 2014 in its domestic tour under the baton of maestro David Robertson and violinist Gil Shaham. During this season of NYO-USA, Soyeong also performed the Faure Piano Quartet in an ensemble representing the program with pianist Christopher O’Riley was broadcasted as a part of From the Top’s Show 293 on NPR.
She recently participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar 2014 under the guidance of maestro Jaime Laredo and took part in concerts at Carnegie Hall with renowned soloists Augustin Hadelich, violin and Liang Wang, oboe. This summer, she will be participating in the international tour to China under the baton of maestro Charles Dutoit and accompanying virtuoso pianist Yundi Li as a part of NYO-USA 2015.
