Soprano and New Jersey native, Samantha Lax has received praise for her vivid character portrayals and lovely voice in contemporary opera as well as Mozart classics. Samantha’s roles include Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring), Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro), Monica (The Medium), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and Cobweb (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Upcoming roles include Jade Boucher in Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking.
In the spring of 2016, Miss Lax was in residency with Indianapolis Opera where she made her professional debut in the American professional premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park as Maria Bertram, workshopped a new opera based on Kurt Vonnegut’s Happy Birthday, Wanda June as Penelope Ryan, and performed in their touring children’s opera, Pinocchio.
Samantha holds her Master of Music from New England Conservatory and her Bachelor of Music from Westminster Choir College.
