Joshua Park, 13, is an eighth grader at Millburn Middle School. He currently attends Juilliard Pre-College for percussion. Joshua began his musical studies with piano at age five, and soon after, he began participating in regional and interstate piano competitions. He has performed numerous times at the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall for his first place piano competition wins.
Joshua’s passion for percussion began in 5th grade when he was given an opportunity to try any instrument of his choosing through the school music program. He immediately connected with percussion, and began studying privately with Greg Giannascoli in July, 2012. At Juilliard, he is taught under Jonathan Haas, Pablo Reippi, and Greg Giannascoli.
This past summer, Joshua attended the Purchase College Percussion Seminar where he participated in a master class with Eriko Daimo. He also attended the Leigh Howard Stevens Marimba Seminar. Joshua is a member of Juilliard Pre-College Symphony and is also actively involved in his school’s music program by participating in Millburn Middle School Band, Symphonic Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble.
In his spare time, Joshua enjoys swimming, solving puzzles, spending time with friends, and playing with his dog.
