Coco Mi is fifteen years old and started playing violin at the age of five. Coco is in her second year at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Program and is the recipient of the Kate Bamberger Memorial Scholarship Fund at MSM. Coco studies from Elizabeth Faidley in the Pre-College. Coco was the Co-Concertmaster of the Symphony Orchestra at the Pre-College in 2014-15 and is now Principal Second Violin in the Philharmonic Orchestra at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College.
Coco has won awards from numerous competitions, including first prize in the Vivo International Music Competition, silver in the 2014 National Young Maestro Competition at Merkin Concert Hall and the East Coast International Competition. Coco has performed in prestigious venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center, and Merkin Concert Hall.
Coco has performed in masterclasses with well-known violinists such as Ray Chen, Mimi Zweig, Mauricio Fuks, Tao Chang-Yu, and Deborah Buck. She has attended various summer music festivals including the Blue Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Elizabeth Faidley’s “Conservatory Camp,” the Luzerne Music Center, and the Summer String Academy at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University where she studied with Mimi Zweig.
Coco is currently a sophomore at Princeton High School in Princeton, NJ.
