Born in New York City in 1998, Chase Park began his musical training at the age of 4 with Madeleine Golz at the Thurnauer School of Music in Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in their Young Artist Program. Chase has been studying cello with Clara Minhye Kim at the Juilliard Pre-College Program since fall of 2010. Chase performed Saint-Saën’s ‘The Swan’ at the Merkin Hall as a guest artist for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center fall of 2009. Chase has performed in masterclasses with cello masters such as Carter Brey, Colin Carr, Jonathan Spitz, Peter Wiley, Steven Isserlis and Paul Katz.
Chase has been part The Perlman Music Program since 2010 studying cello with Mr. Ron Leonard in their summer program and with Mr. Paul Katz in their Winter Residency in Sarasota, FL. As a YoungArts Merit winner in April 3, 2014, he was invited to perform Ligeti Cello Sonata in the NY YoungArts Multidisciplinary performance (curated by Mikhail Baryshnikov and Pedja Muzijevic) at Baryshnikov Arts Center, Jerome Robbins Theater, NYC. Recently, Chase has been selected as 2015 YoungArts finalist and will be participating in their National YoungArts Week in Jan. 4-11, 2015 in Miami, FL.
On Saturday, Dec. 13. 2014 8PM, From the Top at Peak Performances featured Chase performing the Schubert’s Impromptu No. 3 in G Major accompanied by Christopher O’Riley at the Alexander Kasser Theater . He also performed with the Shanghai Quartet performing a movement from Johannes Brahms’ String Sextet in G major. This episode of NPR-From The Top will be airing nationally on January 25, 2015.
Chase had earned a fourth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do in June 2011 from Ho San Tae Kwon Do in Fort Lee, NJ where he had started training at age 4. He has actively participated in annual NJ Tae Kwon Do Championship Tournaments over 12 years. Chase is currently a Junior honor student at the Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ.
