Calling all visual artists! Sinfonietta Nova, a symphony orchestra based out of West Windsor, is sponsoring an art competition to help celebrate their exciting family concert on January 28, 2017. Inspired by our seasonal theme, Soundscapes of Creatures Great and Small, we are inviting all artists (novice to professional, ages seven to adult), to enter their submissions to complement our January program, which will feature the classical work The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns.
This entertaining musical suite consists of fourteen short movements, featuring a variety of animals. We are asking for fresh perspectives to help illustrate the story of this humorous piece. You can photograph, draw, or paint any image that you think is an appropriate accompaniment to the music (though it might be best to focus on one of the animals! Hint, hint….).
We will review submissions and the artwork of one selected winner will be printed and distributed on our posters and postcards announcing and advertising the January concert. All work used will be credited. All the artists will then be invited and encouraged to bring and display their masterpieces at the performance, where their work and efforts will be acknowledged. A prize of $50 (gift card) will be awarded to the contest winner.
Our nature theme this season offers the perfect opportunity for our community to collaborate creatively through sight and sound. So listen to the music and let those artistic impulses fly!
A photo must be submitted if your artwork is created through traditional methods (i.e. oil paint, acrylics, water color, etc.)
The artwork may be created utilizing drawing software; saved and submitted as .eps, .jpg, .pdf, .ps, .psd, or tif.
